Seal of approval for P3 Slovakia as customer signs lease extension to grow business at P3 Košice

Bratislava| 23 January 2024 – P3 Logistic Parks, a leading developer, manager, and owner of high-quality logistics properties in Europe, has signed a lease extension with an existing tenant which has chosen P3 Košice logistics park as the ideal location for its growth ambitions.

Deposit return system Administrator leases a warehouse with a total area of 2,000 m2 at the park in Nová Polhora, and plans to further expand its beverage container processing business in eastern Slovakia.

To announce the collaboration, Marián Áč, Director of Deposit return system Administrator, and Peter Jánoši, Managing Director of P3 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, were joined by the local mayor for a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony that signalled the continued success of the collaboration between P3 and its valued customer.

Deposit return system Administrator requires logistics infrastructure consisting of strategically located warehouses and a sorting centre for processing items from a network of collection points, for its work. Eastern Slovakia accounts for almost a third of the collection points, and last year the tenant collected around 270 million items.

The strategic location of the warehouses, the transportation facilities, and the sorting centre ensures flexible, efficient and eco-friendly transport of collected deposit packaging from collection points.

František Mažerik, Chief Operating Officer of Deposit return system Administrator, said: "Improving and streamlining the loading and unloading of materials is the main benefit of this transfer of the warehouse from Široké to Nová Polhora. The benefit is not only reduced waiting times for transporters thanks to the large, functional premises, but also the overall time savings in loading and unloading of material, where we can handle more transportation. The large indoor storage areas avoid the negative effects of weather conditions."

Peter Jánoši, Managing Director of P3 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, said: "The extension of cooperation with Deposit return system Administrator to another P3 park is proof that we offer quality services, facilities, and are a reliable business partner. P3 builds modern industrial properties of the highest quality, in strategically interesting locations. The good location of P3 Košice park enables our customer to effectively cover a wide network of collection points in the east of Slovakia."

P3 Košice is a modern logistics centre that is part of P3 Logistic Parks’ network of European distribution centres, located in the heart of the cross-border area, with a strategic location that ensures efficient distribution across Central and Eastern European markets. At the same time, it is an important logistics centre in the Košice region. The warehouse at P3 Košice comprises 2,000 m2 and will receive collected deposit packaging from around 730 collection points. It is estimated that the warehouse will process approximately 5,000 tonnes of material per year.

Marián Áč, Director of Deposit return system Administrator, said: "The Eastern region is very important for the deposit system. A quarter of the total volume of collected packaging is collected in Prešov and Košice regions. It is therefore important for us to cover the needs of this area. Thanks to this strategic inter-warehouse transfer, we expect to save more than 300,000 km per year, which also helps us to reduce emissions."

František Kubizniak, mayor of Nová Polhora, said: "I am pleased that as mayor of the municipality of Nová Polhora, I can be part of promoting the circular economy, which is the future of municipal waste management."
