Latest tenant at P3 Žilina park is waste reduction specialist

Bratislava| May 16, 2023 – P3 Logistic Parks, a leading developer and long-term owner of logistics real estate in Europe, is now supporting successful system for the collection of disposable beverage packaging in Slovakia. Non-profit organization ‘Správca zálohového systému’ – which creates, finances and coordinates the operation of a system for collecting of plastic bottles and beverage cans and supports the circular economy – is leasing 2,000 sqm of warehouse space at P3 Žilina park.

The intermediate warehouse in P3 Žilina park is one of five similar warehouses in Slovakia which Správca zálohového systému chose as a location for its facilities.

Ján Franek, Logistics Director at non-profit organization at Správca zálohového systému – Deposit return system Administrator  says: "We try to find the most efficient logistics solutions and optimize our transport routes in order to reduce carbon emissions. The intermediate warehouse at P3 Žilina park fits perfectly into the strategy of efficient deployment of our intermediate warehouses for gathering disposable beverages packaging from collection points and thereby ensure greater service flexibility during the high season."

Ján Rybárik, Head of Leasing at P3 Slovakia, adds: "We are aware that as a logistics real estate developer, we stand at the crossroads of two major sources of greenhouse gas emissions; construction and transport. Therefore, we perceive our role as to bring solutions in cooperation with our tenants which help to eliminate negative impacts."

Currently fifteen tons of material pass through the intermediate warehouse in P3 Žilina park every day, and according to Správca zálohového systému, this will increase even more during the summer. The company transports the collected packaging to an intermediate warehouse from the nearest collection points, checks the material, adds it up and compacts it in a press. In this way, it is able to transport larger amounts of packaging from the intermediate warehouse to the sorting center and then to the recycler in fewer trips, meaning more efficient transportation and a lower carbon footprint.
